Despite being perceived as an opposition stronghold, a section of Jubilee leaders have vowed to deliver for President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nyamira County in August polls.

In 2013, Uhuru managed to scoop 29 percent of the votes cast in comparison to 71 percent by his main rival Raila Odinga.

Led by governorship aspirant Walter Nyambati, they promised to traverse the region in the remaining two months to tilt the ground.

“We can always achieve this and I am confident that ultimately, we are going to scoop more votes in August,” Nyambati said.

“The ground has shifted and Kenyans have seen what Jubilee has done. Those who still believe that this is a NASA zone should keep watching this space,” added Joseph Kiangoi who also chairs Jubilee campaigns in Nyamira.

Recently, Jubilee strategists zoned both Kisii and Nyamira as swing regions and the move has seen heightened political campaigns in recent months.

Kenyatta concluded his two days tour to the vote rich region on Wednesday and issued cheques worth Sh800 million to IDPs.
