Speaking on Thursday during the launch of a road project in Chuka constituency, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki said Jubilee leaders are willing to welcome Kalonzo to the party. The county boss said Kalonzo should join the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party and focus on developing the country.“We will receive Kalonzo with open arms. He is welcome to join us as we work towards developing the country and uniting Kenyans,” said Njuki. His sentiments were reiterated by Chuka/Igambang'ombe MP Patrick Munene who urged Kalonzo to abandon NASA principal Raila Odinga, arguing that the ODM Party leader had run out of ideas. “Raila went on to swear himself in as the people’s president and within no time, he started calling for elections in August. This shows that he has run out of political ideas and Mr Kalonzo should abandon him,” said Munene. This comes a day after Kalonzo denied claims that he was planning to ditch the opposition coalition.Speaking in Athi River on Tuesday, the former vice president said he is willing to support Raila should he make his fifth stab at the presidency in 2022.“I stood with Raila in 2013, stood by him in 2017 and I will still support him if need be. I am not a selfish leader. Raila and I are twins and whoever thinks they will cause disunity in NASA should think again,” said Kalonzo, as quoted by the Standard.
