Parliament majority leader Aden Duale and other Jubilee Party politicians have asked ODM party leader Raila Odinga to come out clean over the controversial single-sourcing tender of Sh3.8 billion by the IEBC for elections management system to a French firm.

Duale was speaking on Sunday in Malindi together with Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa. They said that the owners of the company awarded the tender - Safran were 'close allies' to Odinga.

"We know those behind Safran. They are people very close to Odinga allies and we want to tell the IEBC that we are watching," said Duale.

The company has, however, had a fair share of criticism and corruption charges in 2012, the French company then known as Sagem was fined Sh55 million for bribing officials in order to secure a contract to print National ID cards in Nigeria.

However, on his part, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebuka said they picked Safran because it is the only company that promised to deliver in a short timeline.

"It had undertaken to deliver the technology within the statutory timelines," he said.
