Jubilee manifesto launch on Monday evening was like a funeral or a requiem mass for a departed one.

Homabay MP Peter Kaluma has said that the event was sombre and lacked pomp and colour typical of Jubilee events.

However, Kaluma was quick to 'forgive' Jubilee for the 'dull' event saying that he understands the ruling party is between a rock and a hard place.

"I understand the situation the Jubilee government is in. For an incumbent, even if you were to shout loudest at the top of KICC on what you will do if re-elected, you will always be judged against your scorecard where Jubilee has performed dismally," Kaluma told Citizen TV's Extra show on Tuesday.

"That is why you saw the President and his team really overweighed by the underwhelming performance. The failure to implement what they promised in 2013 really affected their consciences and you could see them struggling on how to promise new things when they have not achieved their past promises," added Kaluma.

However, political analyst Gabriel Muthuma dismissed Kaluma's observations saying the event wasn't meant to excite anyone including Nasa.

Muthuma noted that the event was well organised and whether there was excitement or not, it added no value as 'real excitement is only when lives of citizens are changed on a regular basis'.

"The people who planned that event exactly knew what they were doing because what came out was the message. Whether people were able to take that message and dissect it, is a different thing altogether. This was not a catwalk business," said Muthuma.
