Mombasa Jubilee Election Board chair Sureya Hersi has said they are well prepared to hold the nominations in the county.Hersi has assured party members and aspirants that enough voting materials will be distributed to the various polling centres.Addressing journalists on Tuesday at the party offices in Nyali, Hersi further assured members of free and fair primaries, adding that they will be no room for rigging. She dismissed claims that Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal was planning to rig the nominations in favour of specific aspirants.“All the six returning officers, 130 presiding officers and 360 clerks have completed training and are ready to conduct credible and timely nominations,” she said. She said there was enough security in all the 90 polling stations, adding that they do not anticipate any chaos.Mombasa Jubilee chairman Matano Chengo reiterated Hersi's statements, and dismissed all rigging claims.“These lorries carrying no strategic material are parked here because this is the party branch premises and not the home of Shahbal,” he said.“Shahbal has no business rigging the elections because he already has a direct ticket and won’t be participating in the nominations,” he added. He further warned opposition members against interfering in the exercise, and warned of dire consequences.
