Lari MP Mburu Kahangara is now alleging a plot by National Super Alliance (NASA) principals to rig the August 8 presidential poll.
Kahangara alleges that NASA’s quest to establish its own presidential tallying centre is a well-calculated plot to rig the presidential election.
Speaking at Gitithia Primary School in Lari on Wednesday, the Jubilee lawmaker claimed that NASA's push for a parallel tallying centre is suspicious and malicious.
“NASA wants to rig the presidential polls and that is why they are determined to have a parallel tallying centre,” he claimed as quoted by the Star.
Kahangara asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to stand firm and stop NASA from establishing a parallel tallying centre.
The MP also hit out at NASA accusing it of allegedly planning for chaos. He claimed that the opposition agenda is to reject the August 8 polls in case they lose and incite youths to violence.
The MP urged NASA leaders to stop creating tension as the country heads to the polls. Kahangara said that they (Jubilee) will not sit and allow the opposition plan for chaos.
NASA has said that it will have a parallel tallying centre to monitor voting and dissemination of poll results.
The opposition also says that it will deploy 50 youths in every polling station across the country to guard against rigging.
The IEBC has however warned NASA against establishing a parallel tallying centre saying the move is illegal.
IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati on Tuesday said that the constitution only allows the electoral commission to establish and run tallying centres in general election.
