Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai has issued an apology to Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu following his ‘call to rape’ comments he uttered during a political rally last month.
In the undated video Mbai had been seen calling for the rape of Charity Ngilu thus sparking a lot of controversy on several platforms as the video made its rounds on the internet.
Mbai spoke on Wednesday about those remarks during an interview with a vernacular radio station and expressed his regret highlighting how much he respectsn NARC leader Charity Ngilu..
“Ngilu is like my mother and I have always admired her leadership. I regret those remarks and ask her for forgiveness; please don’t be offended,” said Mbai during the interview.
He went on to assure listeners that he would work with Governor Ngilu while lauding her track record and supporting her for a second term as Kitui governor.
