Kitui East legislature Nimrod Mbai has apologised to his county boss Charity Ngilu.
The apology comes after the MP made hate remarks targeted at the former Lands CS.
The lawmaker had suggested that Ngilu should be sexually assaulted if she does not drop her hard political stance against President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mbai’s remarks caused uproar on social media and were rebuked by many but the Governor has remained silent over the issue.
The MP, however, has withdrawn his statement.
Speaking during an interview at a local station on Wednesday, Mbai said he respects Ngilu and regrets the remarks he made when defending his Jubilee Party boss Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Ngilu is like my mother and I have always admired her leadership style. I regret those remarks and ask her for forgiveness, please do not be offended," he said.
Mbai promised to work with Ngilu and emulate her stellar development record.
The legislator also promised to support Ngilu come 2022.
