There was drama at Ng’araria Girls Secondary School, the constituency tallying centre for Murang'a county on Friday. This is after the Kandara Member of Parliament who was also President Uhuru Kenyatta's party chief agent in the Thursday election, Alice Wahome, attacked the constituency's returning officer, Martin Malonza over signing of repeat presidential election result declaration form.I a video clip going viral on social media, Wahome is seen engaging the Returning Officer in a physical fist as she demanded to sign form 34B.However, according to the IEBC official, he had waited so long for Wahome to come and append her signature on on the result declaration form, as required by the constitution, but the Jubilee legislator was missing. He further noted that he tried to call Wahome but she was not available. Malonza then pleaded with other Jubilee party agents to sign on her behalf, but they insisted that that was impossible.“When the MP did not arrive after waiting for more than threehours, I decided to indicate on the form that the party agentwas nowhere to be found. This is because I had to deliverthe form at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi on time,” said Malonza.Malonza was also heard saying he was not going to change anything on the form during the scuffle. On realizing that some cameras were rolling, the Kandara MP got more agitated and demanded the recordings be stopped.
According to a police officer who witnessed the whole incident, the MP cooled down after their intervention.
