Nyamira County Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi has asked men in the county to support their wives seeking elective seats.
She said the move will substantially help to cover the affirmative challenges in subsequent parliaments and county assemblies.
“We want to have more women seeking MCA, MP, senator and governor seats not only in Nyamira County but also across the country.
"The dread of more women joining politics can only be realized if men agree to support women,” she noted.
She challenged women to stop shying away from sharing ideas with their husbands especially those with plans to join politics.
The legislator stated that Nyamira women are educated and fit to hold public offices.
“In Nyamira we have women who are well educated, equipped and ready to be leaders in the county. It is time such women should come out to defend for their rights because the old believe that women can only be house wives is outdated and won’t be allowed in Nyamira,” she added.
