Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani has dared NASA leader Raila Odinga and his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka to swear themselves as people’s president and deputy respectively.
Speaking to journalists in Mombasa Town on Monday, Mwashetani said that Raila and Kalonzo will be signing their ‘death’ certificate if they swear themselves.
He said that Raila’s planned swearing is not recognized by the constitution, adding that he should be ready to face the ‘music’.
“Raila and Kalonzo plus NASA leaders pushing for the illegal swearing in should be ready to face the consequences,” he said.
Mwashetani accused NASA misinterpreting the constitution and misleading Kenyans. He said that NASA will achieve nothing even if Raila is sworn in as the president.
The Jubilee MP accused NASA politicians of misleading Raila and Kalonzo with aim of spoiling their ‘names’ and reputation through an illegal activity.
Mwashetani asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to deal with Raila firmly and ensure that his planned wearing does not take place.
The MP, however, asked the Jubilee government to give an ‘ear’ to the electoral reforms agenda. He said that there is a need for reforms but the same should be articulated through the right channels.
NASA has insisted on swearing in Raila and Kalonzo even as pressure mounts on them to drop the plan. On Sunday during the Coast people’s assembly convention in Mombasa, Raila and Kalonzo said that they are not afraid of taking the oath.
The government has termed the planned swearing highly treasonous whose punishment is death.
