Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has defended the move by a lawyer to file a petition to the National Assembly seeking the removal of Chief Justice David Maraga and six other members of the Judicial Service Commission(JSC).
Speaking during an interview yesterday on a local radio station(radio jambo, Ngunjiri said the constitution provides the right to any Kenyan to do so if he/she feels dissatisfied by services offered by any public servant.
He said that nobody is above the law and it will be the responsibility of parliament to ensure justice is served when they are addressing the petition.
"No one is above the law.The constitution is clear on guidelines to be followed. If someone knows he or she has been carrying out his mandate in proper manner, there is no need to worry,"said Ngunjiri.
Yesterday, lawyer Adrian Njenga filed the petition to have the Chief Justice alongside his Deputy Philomena Mwilu, Justice Mohammed Warsame, Justice Aggrey Muchelule, Prof. Tom Ojienda, Ms Emily Ominde and Mercy Deche removed due to alleged incompetence and gross misconduct.
Njenga accused the JSC of victimising judges who exhibit impartiality in their rulings.
