North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko has publicly differed with government over the ongoing crackdown on opposition leaders.

Terming arbitrary arrests of key NASA leaders ''uncalled for', Nyamoko insists that the state should now focus on healing the nation.

"The swearing-in was in the first place inconsequential. It was just a mock swearing-in and did not meet constitutional threshold.

"Therefore, it makes no sense for state to initiate crackdown on certain leaders and even TV stations. This is the perfect time for reconciliation," he said.

The government on Wednesday launched a crackdown on opposition leaders who participated in the swearing-in of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Among those who have been arrested include lawyer Miguna Miguna, MPs TJ Kajwang and George Aladwa.

The government also launched a crackdown on the media switching of signals for KTN News NTV and Citizen.

Despite court orders to have TV stations back live on air, the government is yet to implement them in as many days.
