[Photo/the star.co.ke]Taveta MP Naomi Shaban has slammed Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi over their renewed push for the secession of the Coast region.Shaban asked Joho and Kingi to stop treating the Coast region as their property and allow residents to live in harmony.Speaking to journalists in Taveta Town on Tuesday, Shaban said Joho’s push for secession is not justified, adding that it is a ploy to remain relevant.Shaban said the Mombasa Governor and others championing for Coast region’s self-rule are enemies of peace.“Governor Joho and all others pushing for Coast secession should know that this region is not their property that they can auction,” she said.Shaban said that they will fight any efforts by Joho and other opposition leaders to secede the region. The Jubilee MP warned Joho that his push for secession will land him in trouble. She asked Coast residents no to be swayed by politicians who are pushing for their own selfish interests. Shaban said the region will remain part of Kenya whether opposition leaders like it or not.Governor Joho has vowed to push on with the secession agenda despite warning from President Uhuru Kenyatta.Last week, Joho revealed that a consultative forum involving all the counties in the Coast region will soon be organised to chart the way forward.The flamboyant Mombasa Governor argued that the region’s secession will end political, social and economic injustices that have allegedly been meted on Coast residents by the current and previous regimes.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
