A Jubilee Member of Parliament has called for the immediate resignation of Sports and Culture Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario.
Juja lawmaker Francis Waititu has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Wario with immediate effect if he does not step down following the poor handling of the Kenyan team to the just concluded Rio Olympics.
Waititu has accused Wario of 'gross mismanagement' of sports in the country over his failure to manage the Kenyan athletes.
"We need a person with sports in his heart and I don't think Wario has got that. He is not suitable for the job," Waititu told K24 on Friday morning interview.
The lawmaker said it was not enough for Wario to disband National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK) which is accused of mismanaging Team Kenya.
"This is a PR stunt and is not going to convince anybody that he is doing enough at the Sports Ministry. He should just resign and let us have the right person take over," he added.
Waititu noted that Kenya needed a strong Sports CS to stand up for the country amid doping claims that have heavily dented Kenya athletes' image globally.
