Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has rubbished NASA leader Raila Odinga’s push for fresh presidential elections in August.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of nominated Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) vetting at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Friday, Ichung’wa said Raila is dreaming.The vocal Jubilee MP stated Raila’s political career was over, adding that he is creating a debate on non-issues.He said there is no way the country will hold fresh presidential elections in August.“Raila Odinga should stop misleading his supporters because constitutionally the next election will be in 2022,” he said.Ichung’wa claimed that Raila regrets swearing himself in as the people’s president and is looking for ways of remaining relevant.“Raila thought that he will get the backing of the European Union and western countries after taking an illegal oath and is now in shock after his action was condemned,” he added.The Jubilee lawmaker said the Jubilee government will not be dragged into Raila’s political theatrics.He asked Kenyans to remain united and work with President Uhuru Kenyatta in building the country.In an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, Raila was quoted saying that one of the key agenda for NASA is to push for fresh presidential elections in August.The former Prime Minister, who recently declared himself as the people's president, also said that they will stage civil disobedience in the push for their electoral reforms.The opposition is planning a series of political rallies across the country in readiness for the national people’s assembly launch set for the end of February.Raila took oath as the people’s president last week in an event that his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula skipped.
