Kimilili MP Didimus Baraza on Tuesday led several Members of County Assemblies from Bungoma county to lock gates of schools which were affected by the transfer in a bid to keep off the new principals. The leaders Baraza, Kimilili MCA David Baraza, Maeni's Florence Wekesa and Agrey Mulongo of Kibingei noted that they should be consulted before any changes are made. "I want to tell my Chief Whip at Parliament that I, as a Jubilee MP, am ready to be de-whipped for taking a stand other than the party's," said Didimus as quoted by the Star.Baraza vowed that despite being a legislator in the ruling party, he will put the interest of his constituents first. "I am going to lead from the front...I am a former military officer...I know how to do everything that will ensure no teacher lands at our giant academic institutions," he noted. He added that the politicians were ready to go to jail should they be arrested following their protests. We will sleep well in the cells and let the people of Kimilili visit us because we are fighting for their rights. You cannot transfer a teacher and his head, who have fought tirelessly round the clock to improve performance," he said. The schools affected in the county include Friends School Kamusinga, Kimilili Boys' High, Kibabii and Chesamisi.
