Taita Taveta Women Representative Joyce Lay has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery to ensure that female aspirants are provided with extra security detail as they go along with their campaigns.

The MP who is eying the Taita Taveta Senate Seat on a Jubilee Party ticket said female aspirants are susceptible to attacks from their male counterparts during this campaign period.Speaking in Mwatate on Saturday, Lay who ditched ODM for Jubilee said the government should allow them to make their own security arrangements in case the country's security teams become overstretched.The lawmaker further asked the Interior CS to deploy National Youth Service (NYS) trainees to provide extra security to the female candidates.Lay is among the few female politicians in the Coast region who will take part in a male dominated race in the August 8 elections.
