Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu insists that Deputy President William Ruto's Mt. Kenya support is not guaranteed adding that the region will back someone who will support President Uhuru Kenyatta to deliver his legacy.
With 2022 succession politics overshadowing Uhuru's infantry stages of his second term, divisions have already started to emerge in Jubilee administration.
"As a Mt. Kenya voter, my personal vote will go to someone who is committed to ensuring Uhuru leaves a good legacy," he wrote on his Facebook.
His sentiments comes at a time when its rumoured that Uhuru and Ruto are rocked in sharp internal differences over nominations to cabinet.
And Ngunjiri, a former ODM member, further insists that 2022 will not be about 'betrayal or paying back debts' in a jibe directed at Ruto.
"We shall vote someone who promotes national unity and cohesion. Most importantly, 2022 will not be about paying debts or betrayal," he further said.
Throughout his stay in ODM, Ngunjiri was a chief critic of Ruto and is on record for linking him with 2007/08 Post election Violence.
Having helped Uhuru to clinch presidency twice, Ruto is banking of Uhuru's populous Mt. Kenya region.
