Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai now wants Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to quit National Super Alliance (NASA) after missing Raila Odinga’s Tuesday inauguration at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
Nyamai, a Jubilee MP argues that Kalonzo did well by snubbing Raila’s illegal swearing in as the People's President.
She said criticism and condemnation against Kalonzo was unnecessary and uncalled for, noting that the former Vice President did nothing wrong by skipping the event.
Nyamai claimed that Kalonzo had calculated his moves and was no longer interested in the opposition.
“People should leave Kalonzo Musyoka alone and stop this unwarranted criticism against him for skipping Raila’s unconstitutional and illegal event," she told journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday.
Nyamai asked the Wiper Party leader to quit the opposition alliance, saying he had wasted himself by following Raila Odinga.
The Jubilee lawmaker claimed that Raila’s swearing in was a plot to trap Kalonzo in a bid of ending his presidential ambition.
Nyamai asked Kalonzo to support Jubilee government agenda noting that he stands a better chance in 2022 only if he quits NASA.
Kalonzo skipped Raila Odinga’s Tuesday swearing in as the People’s President at Uhuru Park.
The former Vice President suspiciously disappeared moments to Raila’s swearing in which was attended by thousands of NASA supporters.
Kalonzo has however defended his absence at the coronation saying that unavoidable circumstances forced him to skip.
A section of NASA supporters and politicians have termed the Wiper leader a traitor.
