[Photo/Courtesy]Mumias East MP Ben Washiali pointed a blaming finger to Opposition leader Raila Odinga, following the collapse of Mumias Sugar Factory. The once giant sugar miller went to its knees, few years ago, with government trying to bail it out.Washiali who defected from the Opposition to President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party, said Raila's 'man', Dr Evans Kidero, was the one who sunked the miller.According to the lawmaker, Raila should ensure the Nairobi governor does not vie in August 8 elections, until he returns the proceeds of Mumias Sugar Company."You can not be talking about corruption (former) Prime Minister (Raila), yet there's corruption in your house. Ensure that man who seats as a governor in Nairobi is not elected, for us to believe that you do not condone corruption. Please clean your house first," Washiali told Raila.Speaking during the burial of former MP Francis Obongita, Raila who is the Nasa presidential candidate dismissed Washiali's claims, saying Kidero was never behind the company's looting. He said he had never allowed corruption to thrive, and would never allow it.Raila further asked Mumias East locals not to be lured by Jubilee Party supporters, into believing that the miller firm collapsed in Opposition's hands. On his part, Kakamega county senator Bonni Khalwale questioned how a Sh200 million allocated to the company by the county government of Kakamega was used. The Ford Kenya party deputy leader who seeks to unseat governor Wycliffe Oparanya in August polls, vowed to ensure all the cartels who loot from the firm are dealt with, if elected.Various Opposition leaders were in attendance, including Siaya Senator James Orengo, Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga and ANC party leader, Nasa co-principal Musalia Mudavadi.
