Nyamira County Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi has asked total orphans and disabled children who are in school to apply for bursary funds.

The MP said she is committed to ensure orphans and people living with disabilities get access to proper education across the county. 

"Total orphans and disabled children are advised to pick bursary application forms from all the chiefs' offices in the county starting from today Wednesday so that they can fill the forms and return them for consideration to be given the Affirmative action funds to help them settle fee balances," she said.   

She called on parents and guardians not to ignore applying for the funds because no one will be locked out.

"Affirmative action funds are funds that comes from the people through taxes. I wish to challenge parents whose children are disabled and guardians taking care of orphans to apply for the funds so that they can a boost in paying school fee balances," she noted.

She said no official will be allowed to favor his or her relatives in the allocation of the funds.

Jerusha assured that the allocation process will be fair, free and transparent and no region will be sidelined.
