A Jubilee Party MP has opened up on the character of Kenya's second person in command, Deputy President William Ruto.
While crediting him for his easy accessibility by the political class and the ordinary citizens, Pokot South legislator David Pkosing, said although it is easy to get Ruto's ear, one must be clear and concise when making a request to him.
"Your problem with the DP is to convincingly explain to him what you need. It is never easy, but once he buys into it, you can as well retire to bed because it immediately becomes his problem," he said.
In an interview with Sunday Nation, Pkosing who is a close associate of Ruto described him as a generous man who keeps his promises.
"The DP does not disappoint. Once he promises, he surely delivers," the lawmaker noted.
Ruto, who is a self-proclaimed 'hustler', however, has been accused of high-handedness in his way of dealing with people.
An MP from South Rift told Sunday Nation that the DP's abrasive nature was his main weakness.
"The one reason why some of the politicians in the Rift Valley, like former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, initially broke ranks with him, is because of his forceful approach to issues," the lawmaker said, speaking in confidence.
