Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi now says Deputy President William Ruto will pick his running mate from the Mt. Kenya region ahead of the 2022 general election.
Sudi who spoke in Eldoret town on Monday further asked the current opposition leaders to be ready to support DP Ruto’s presidential ambitions or “you will remain the in the cold for another 10 years”.
The vocal Jubilee MP insisted that Ruto is in a pole position to succeed President Kenyatta once he completes his two terms in office.
“Elections is about numbers and if they (opposition) keep going around in circles, they should expect nothing but to lose again in the coming election,” Sudi said.
“Those in NASA need to support Ruto if not then let their leader Raila Odinga vie again and we will have DP Ruto with a running mate from Mt. Kenya then everyone knows what will happen,” he added.
Ruto is widely expected to fly the Jubilee Party flag in the 2022 elections, with several Mt. Kenya leaders reiterating that they will support his presidential bid.
It is, however, not yet clear whether Raila Odinga will be on the ballot again or will honor the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and rally behind Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
