Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi now claims opposition chief Raila Odinga is pushing for a constitutional amendment through a referendum so that he can create positions for himself and his lieutenants.
The Jubilee MP, however, says Raila's push for a referendum will not see the light of the day.
"As leaders from the North Rift region we will not allow whatsoever for the constitution to be amended for some people to get some positions," said Sudi in his constituency, Tuesday.
The second-term legislator who is a close ally o Deputy President William Ruto reiterated that Kenyans are tired of politics and the opposition should give them a break and allow the government of the day to focus on its development projects.
"For how long will Kenyans be subjected to politics and for heaven sake the process of changing the constitution is cumbersome and expensive and Kenyans are not ready for that," he noted.
Sudi challenged the opposition chief to accept the benefits of the handshake and abandon his push for a referendum as it will not benefit Kenyans.
He further challenged politicians to stop the 2022 succession politics and instead concentrate on development meant to improve the lives of the electorates.
"As North rift leaders we already have our 2022 presidential candidate, therefore, no need for early campaigns," said Sudi.
