Kandara Member of Parliament has said that commissioners at IEBC were going to be sent home even if they did not resign.
The lawmaker speaking on Tuesday on a breakfast show on citizen Tv said that the commissioners were already on their way out since they could not be trusted to invigilate any other election because of questionable integrity.
“Even without their resignation, the commissioners were still going to be sent home. They were not going to handle the referendum or the next general election. Their actions and integrity are questionable,” Wahome said.
The legislator further said that the Parliament had already prepared a letter to summon the commissioners long before some of them could resign.
“The letter to summon IEBC before parliament was drafted even before the resignation of the commissioners. A parliamentary committee was unaware that the commissioners were planning to resign,” she added.
The MP added that it was evident that the IEBC was experiencing internal wrangles in the manner in which they conducted their business.
And that they needed to explain to Kenyans. It is just a day ago when the security detail of the Commission’s Chairman Wafula Chebukati and two remaining commissioners was withdrawn by the state.
