Mt Elgon MP John Serut has threatened to mobilize voters in his constituency not to back President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election one week after leading a delegation to Deputy William Ruto’s home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking at Kaptoboi Secondary School in Cheptais sub county during a ceremony in which he issued CDF cheques worth Sh2 million, Serut accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto of sidelining the Sabaot community.
He also said despite voting for Jubilee as a bloc, the community has nothing to smile about.
“We are the only constituency that wholly supported and voted for the Jubilee administration, but we have received a raw deal from it. No serious projects in Mt Elgon and if there are any, they can tell us,” Serut said, as quoted by the Star.
He further faulted Ruto of forgetting the region while touring the Western region seeking for support as the government seeks another term.
“Ruto has been busy roaming Webuye East and Webuye West to raise funds for various projects, but he has forgotten us, despite the fact that we contributed to their election. It is time they launch projects in this region or I will launch a fierce campaign against them,” he added.
