Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny has challenged National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principles Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula not to allow Raila Odinga lieutenants 'to run the show' in their push for a constitutional amendment.
Kutuny said the two leaders from the vote-rich western region should play an active role in determining what should be amended in the constitution.
Speaking during the homecoming of Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, the Jubilee MP said the only way to the two leaders can 'beat' Raila in his own game is by being involved in drafting the referendum question.
“You have allowed Raila and his close allies to start pushing for a constitutional review which is wrong but it is not too late as you should now be actively involved and ensure you play a key role in deciding the referendum question,” Kutuny told Musalia and Wetangula on Saturday.
“This is the only way that will ensure your interests are taken care of in case the referendum push succeeds,” he added.
Mudavadi and Wetangula have expressed different opinions over calls for the referendum with the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader saying it was too early to make a final decision on whether he is opposed to the matter or not.
The Bungoma Senator has however insisted that he will be opposing any calls to change the constitution claiming the move is only meant to create leadership positions for a few individuals.
