A Jubilee Member of Parliament has dared opposition leader Raila Odinga to go ahead with his plan to take the oath of office at his own risk.

Kieni legislator Kanini Kega said Jubilee will not persuade the former Prime Minister to drop his plans to swear himself in, reminding him that 'choices have consequences'.

"He (Raila) should know Uhuru Kenyatta is the sitting president and failure to recognise that by taking oath against the Constitution will result to death," he said on Monday.

Kega was referring to Attorney-General Githu Muigai's statement that if Raila swears himself in he would be charged with treason whose penalty is death.

"I will give him the Bible so that he can take the oath as his wishes," Kega added, speaking during the burial of Nyeri County MCA Peter Weru who died on Jamhuri Day.

The MP was reacting to opposition leader's statement who on Sunday threatened to be sworn in if President Kenyatta does not dialogue with him.

"Nobody will stop me from lifting the Bible," Raila said, referring to the Christian gesture of lifting the holy book high during oathing ceremonies.

"It is better to stand up for the truth and die while at it, than to die lying down," he added, while addressing delegates during the Coast People's Assembly convention in Kilifi County.
