Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarrup Mishra has asked agencies involved in the fight against graft to ensure all the suspects found guilty return all the public money they had stolen.
Mishra further asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider forgiving suspects who will opt to return all the money acquired through corrupt ways.
“I want to congratulate the president for his efforts in the fight against corruption but I want to advise him not to jail those involved in corruption but allow them to bring back the money they stole thereafter forgiven,” said the Kesses legislator in Eldoret town, Saturday.
The Jubilee MP noted that the fight against corruption will yield fruits if only suspects are forced to return the illegally acquired money.
“Kenyans will gain nothing if corrupt individuals are jailed without returning the money they stole to be used in projects that will better the lives of Kenyans and the same money may also be used to buy their freedom,” he said.
Mishra, however, blamed the judiciary for releasing those implicated in corruption after paying a small amount of money saying the move was derailing the fight against corruption as it encourages others to be involved in graft.
