A Jubilee Party  MP, Joshua Kuttuny has strongly advised against arresting opposition leader Raila Odinga.

According to the Cherangany legislator, Raila Odinga has a huge following that cannot be wished away.

''Arresting the opposition leader Raila Odinga could plunge the country into chaos. It should not get lost on us that he has a huge following,'' Kuttuny said yesterday.

The swearing-in of Raila Odinga last week has sparked a debate on whether the veteran opposition leader should be put behind bars and charged with treason.

Scores of Kenyans contend that arresting him would be ill-advised as it could result in political instability.

The Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i warned last week that those associated with the treasonous ceremony would regret it as the government would deal with them decisively within the law.

A number of opposition leaders have already been arrested for questioning in dramatic operations that have attracted the anger of supporters.
