A Jubilee MP Kanini Kega has warned against Cord's weekly demonstrations stating that they are putting the country on the path that led to the 2007-2008 post-election violence.
Kega has challenged the Cord principals to follow legal provisions to disband the electoral body. Together with other Jubilee MPs, Kega urged the youths to refrain from being incited to demonstrate.
He was speaking at a funeral ceremony of the late Joseph Magua Kiboi, a former police officer in Kieni. The lawmaker urged the opposition to present their grievances to him to enable him present them to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi.
“If they are afraid of being frustrated by tabling the petition, I am ready to do it for them,” he said.
According to the Jubilee legislator, Cord officials are afraid of ‘tyranny of numbers’ and they should use him to table the motion in the parliament.
The opposition has vowed to continue with their demos every Monday until the elector body is disbanded arguing that Kenyans have lost their trust to conduct clear and fair elections next year.
