President Uhuru Kenyatta's choice for Parliamentary Service Commission may suffer a major blow once the debate fronting five nominees by Jubilee party is tabled.
At a heated National Assembly debate, Jubilee MPs booed Speaker Justin Muturi, when he read three names being fronted by the president.
"We have allowed him to make decisions on our behalf but for this one (PSC), he should allow us choose independently," said Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose.
Similar fate seems to have affected Raila Odinga's NASA, which saw Wiper opposing nomination of Gladys Wanga, Aisha Jumwa and George Khaniri to the powerful committee.
But its the inclusion of Naomi Shabaan, Beth Mugo and Adan Keynan that angered Jubilee MPs, who are discouraging the habit of recycling the legislators to the commission.
"This involves welfare of MPs and we should not have individuals imposed on us. Let the president allow us to chose without unnecessary interference," added Jerusha Momanyi of Nyamira.
Similar dissenting voices were heard in parliament when Muturi read the names, despite Uhuru's meeting with MPs early this week.
The debate was suspended on NASA's request but both nominees from the leading parties could be rejected at least based on the mood of the house.
