A group of Members of Parliament and Senators have accused certain Maasai leaders currently in the government of inciting members of their community to invade private land in Naivasha.
Without mentioning names, the leaders said that the community had invaded tens of acres of private land leaving a trail of destruction.
Led by Kabete law maker Ferdinand Waititu, the leaders affiliated to jubilee coalition said there was rising tension in land invaded by the community.
While pointing to the controversial Utheri Wa Lari land in Mai Mahiu, Waititu said some Maasai leaders from outside Nakuru county were to blame for the current standoff over ownership of the vast farm.
He added that the government was clear on ownership of land and told the community to respect title deeds issued to shareholders of the 22,000 acre piece of land.
“The Jubilee government is very clear on ownership of land and if you want to come to this land come and buy but we will not accept a situation where you take this by force”.
Waititu was speaking when he addressed members of the land buying company in Mai Mahiu Naivasha where they were also issued with title deeds.
He at the same time hit out at CORD leader Raila Odinga saying he was not sincere in what he was doing in agitating for reforms of key institutions in the country.
