In an interview with The Star Newspaper, Sonko termed the MPs tribalistic and lone rangers who have no support from city residents.

Sonko said that the MPs want to portray him as a tribal leader who is focusing on a single tribe to win the Nairobi gubernatorial race.

"I serve all tribes in Nairobi , I have never focused on a single tribe because all the tribes in this city vote. I have never seen a scenario where it is only one tribe that votes," said Sonko.

Sonko affirmed that those trying to pin him down will not succeed.

"Those planning to isolate me will not succeed because I have the support of Nairobi residents unlike them," said Sonko.

He added that no single politician has the power to determine whether he should run or not, as he has every right to run for office and serve the people.

"It is people who give me the mandate to serve them. No politician can change that as it is not their work. Such politicians should focus on their political life rather than mine," said Sonko.
