Three Jubilee leaders were on Friday forced to cut short their speeches following resistance from a section of perceived NASA supporters during the burial of Benga maestro Bernard Onsongo.
Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka had ignited the crowd when he insisted that the country cannot afford to go for polls without reforms within the IEBC.
Nyamira Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi, North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko and Ex – Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati were immediate casualties as the crowd turned hostile.
They had appealed locals to turn out in large numbers and vote president Uhuru Kenyatta but their persuasion fell on deaf ears of irate mourners.
For a moment, mourners chanted anti – IEBC slogans leading top temporary disruption of the well-attended funeral.
The Jubilee legislators vacated the place hastily amid murmurs from disgruntled NASA supporters who accused them of ‘sabotaging’ democracy.
Despite his recent tour to the region, Uhuru’s relationship with locals has diminished substantially following his rocky relationship with Chief Justice David Maraga who hails from the region.
