Wrangles facing the ruling Jubilee party over leadership of some of the National Assembly committees may find its way into the courtrooms.

This is after four Jubilee Members of Parliament who were removed from their committees revealed that they were planning to challenge the decision in court.

The four are Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Silas Tiren (Moiben), Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East) and Alex Kosgey (Emgwen).

The MPs were removed from their committees for defying the party's top leadership by vying against the preferred Jubilee candidates in the committees’ leadership.

Keter floored Bura MP Ali Wario who was Jubilee's preferred candidate to clinch the Labour and Social Welfare committee while Tiren was elected Agriculture committee chairman, defeating Adan Ali of Mandera East who was the party’s choice.

Bowen defeated Sofia Abdi for the Environment and Natural Resources committee while Kosgey had attempted to run against Kieni MP Kanini Kega at the Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Committee.

Shortly after the committee elections last week, National Assembly majority whip Mumias East MP Ben Wasiali informed the four MPs that they had been de-whipped from their various committees.

The move sparked a storm among Jubilee MPs mainly from Rift Valley who are now said to be plotting to have their top leaders in the National Assembly stripped off their positions.

"We’ll go to court to stop our removal from the committees and then come to Parliament and impeach him (Majority Leader Aden Duale). Our prayers in court are the same prayers we’ll use to impeach him," said Keter, as quoted by the Nation.
