The three Richard Tong’i (Nyaribari Chache), Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South) and Stephen Manoti (Bobasi) were allegedly issuing money to youths few Kilometers from Nyacheki town hours after opposition leader Raila Odinga left the scene.

According to eye witnesses, the three MPs were besieged by youths allied to ODM aspirant Naphtali Onkoba who started pelting stones before the legislators speed off to the nearby Mogonga Township.

“It’s true the MPs were talking to a group of youths allied to Maxwell Magoma (Jubilee candidate) before youths allied to ODM stormed the roadside meeting and disrupted. The MPs were, of course, giving ‘chai” which is a norm here,” said Peter Omagwa.

"The MPs had to flee for their lives because the ODM troop started chanting anti-Jubilee songs and pelted stones on the rival camp. The MPs fled on their motorcade towards Mogonga road,” added another eye witness Victor Ong’era.

The by-election has witnesses high profile campaigns in which Jubilee team led by DP William Ruto visited on Sunday while ODM toured the region under the stewardship of opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Until going to the press, efforts to get a comment from the three MPs hit a snag since they could neither respond to texts nor phone calls.
