A Jubilee Member of Parliament has hailed the Friday's meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga held at Harambee House in Nairobi on Friday.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa congratulated the two stating the meeting was a key foundation to unity for the sake of Kenyans.
"I would like to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition leader Raila Odinga for their yesterday's meeting, this is a key foundation to unity in our country," Barasa said.
Speaking at the Friends School Kamusinga during an Annual General Meeting (AGM), Barasa challenged the three NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka to support Uhuru and Raila following what they agreed during the surprise meeting.
The trio said they were not consulted and that they learned about the meeting on the media.
They called for a retreat comprising them and Odinga following the meeting that saw the two top leaders vow to support each other for the country's unity.
"For the public good, I call on my brothers Hon Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang'ula to support yesterday’s unity call. The mood of the country demands that we get our heads together as leaders," he added.
During the AGM on Saturday, Barasa indicated parents and teachers have the civic duty of supporting government initiatives aimed at boosting the quality of education in the country.
"The youths are the cornerstone of innovation. And as we are all aware, it’s technology that is shaping development globally. We must support these young lads to grow their talents," Barasa said.
