[Photo|Ababu Namwamba]The Council of Professionals of Kenya (CPK) now wants the Constitution to be amended so as to make it mandatory for every Kenyan to vote.CPK which comprises of Jubilee MPs and former lawmakers, said voting should be mandatory to all Kenyans adding that it will ensure they participate in electing their leader.Led by Labour Party leader Ababu Namwamba, the MPs said they would propose amendments to the National Assembly and ensure it gets enough support from the lawmakers.Addressing the press at a Nairobi Hotel on Sunday, they said the move will prevent any politician from taking advantage of the right not to vote to bar their rivals from being voted for.CPK seemed to be citing the current incident where residents in Homa Bay, Migori, Siaya and Kisumu counties prevented IEBC from distributing voting materials in the region during Thursday fresh elections. IEBC was forced to postpone the exercise thereafter citing security concerns.
