A section f Jubilee members of Parliament have come together to raise funds for Soita Shitanda's funeal arrangements and burial.
The one time minister died last Tuesday after being admitted to the Nairobi Hospital.
The MPs, mainly from western Kenya gathered on Saturday to raise Sh1.8 million to support of the family of the deceased.
They included; Reginald Wanyonyi, Emanuel Wangwe, Dan Wanyama, Ayub Savula, Malulu Injendi, Lazaro Wafula and Ben Washiali.
The lawmakers attended a fund raising meeting at Tande High School where former minister Noah Wekesa was also present.
According to the Star, the funeral budget is Sh2.5 million.
The late Shitanda had served as Malava MP for 15 years, and until his untimely death, he was the chair of the Agricultural Development Corporation.
The county government of Kakamega under Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has termed the funeral a 'county affair' .
The national government on the other hand says it has all the right to control the funeral.
None-the-less, both Kakamega and the national government have agreed to settle the Sh5.5 million bill at the hospital.
The body will be transported by air from Nairobi to Kakamega County courtesy of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
