A section of Jubilee MPs wants Cord leaders held responsible for the looting and destruction of property allegedly witnessed during the Monday protests.

The MPs also want the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to order the arrest of Cord leaders over their involvement in chaotic protests.

The lawmakers who spoke at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi also want business people in Nairobi was property was looted by goons during the protests to file compensation charges against the cord leaders.

Led by National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale, the MPs condemned the Monday chaotic protests accusing Cord of inciting the public.

“It is clear that cord is keen to destabilise the country and on this note we ask the IG to order their arrest for supervising chaotic protests,” said Duale.

Duale said that opposition leaders are to be held responsible for the looting in the protests.

“Raila Odinga and his brigade should be arrested and charged over the chaotic protests,” said Duale who is also the Garissa Township MP.

Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru lashed at opposition accusing them of fanning violence.

“The objective of the opposition leader’s s not to oust  the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) but to cause violence as the country approaches elections,” he said.

The Dagoretti lawmaker added that Cord were not ready for the dialogue they have been calling for and only want to cause violence.

On Monday, Cord leaders led protesters at the Anniversary Towers in their bid to have IEBC disbanded.

The protests turned chaotic with reports that some protesters looted property from nearby shops.

The Monday protests also saw some anti-riot police captured on camera beating up protesters a move that has elicited condemnation from human rights groups.
