The MPs, during a Thanksgiving prayer service at Thigio Primary school in Limuru on Sunday claimed that the opposition knows that it stands no chance against President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017, and wants to discredit his government.

The MPs accused the Cord leader of speculating and spreading propaganda on corruption issues.

“Raila’s motive is to seek sympathy of Kenyans because he knows that he has no chance in 2017,” said Limuru MP John Kiragu.

Kiragu claimed that the opposition is engaging the government in malicious propaganda for its own gain.

“What the opposition wants to achieve is to incite Kenyans against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government in the name of corruption,” said Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungw’a.

The Kikuyu lawmaker said that Raila’s attack on the Uhuru’s family is a clear indication that he has an ill motive, while his Kiambu counterpart Jude Njomo accused Cord leaders of double standards on matters corruption.

Njomo said that some of the Cord leaders on the fore-front in criticizing Uhuru’s government have been implicated in major graft scandals, and that Raila embezzled funds meant for ‘Kazi Kwa Vijana’ while he was in government.

“Raila should explain to Kenyans where the ‘Kazi Kwa Vijana’ money went to before making noise,” said the Kiambu Town lawmaker.

The MPs said that they will not allow the opposition to use corruption to intimidate the President and his family, and asked Cord leaders to allow the agencies mandated to fight graft do their work instead of abusing and linking Kenyatta’s kin into the scam.

Other MPs who attended the prayer ceremony are Paul Koinange (Kiambaa), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Kigo Njenga (Gatundu North) and Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete).
