Already, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, has vowed to move on with plans to have Maraga kicked out.

"There is need as Jubilee to respect the independence of the judiciary and the president should come out bold on this matter," said area Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi.

She further said: "If the rumours are true, as Jubilee leaders we are ready to stand with him. He has done nothing wrong absolutely."

At Kebirichi in Nyamira, Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose was more specific warning that the president should shun those plotting the move.

"They have come out but we cannot allow the plans. The president must tame them immediately because such conversations impedes his legacy."

Interior Cabinet Secretary CS Matiang'i, who was present at the event, denied such plots insisting that they were grapevines peddled by opposition.
