An MP from Uasin Gishu has told Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to go slow on the 2022 presidential contest.
Oscar Sudi (Kapseret, Jubilee) said on Saturday that 2022 is Deputy President Willaim Ruto "turning point" in politics and attempts by the senator to thwart the DP's bid to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House will be met by stiff resistance, especially in Rift Valley.
"I want to warn Senator Gideon Moi that unless he stands in support of the deputy president he would have buried his own political carrier," Sudi said in Bureti constituency.
He made the remarks during the homecoming party of Bureti MP Japheth Mutai.
"Let him wait for his turn in 2022. We will give him all the support he wants."
Opposition chief Raila Odinga's visit to former President Daniel Arap Moi's home in Kabarak has elicited mixed reactions across the political divide with political analysts saying the tour was linked to the 2022 general election.
Some analysts say Gideon who was handy to welcome Raila at his father's home may be planning to work closely with the former prime minister to "spoil" Ruto's bid to become president when 2022 comes.
Rift Valley is currently divided on who to support between DP Ruto and Senator Moi in 2022.
