Those who missed the meeting held at a Nairobi hotel included senator Mike Sonko, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru and nominated lawmaker Johnson Sakaja.

It is alleged that the absentism by the members was a protest over the alleged endorsement of Water CS Eugene Wamalwa.

The meeting was attended by Water CS Eugene Wamalwa, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, and MPs Maina Kamanda (Starehe), George Theuri (Embakasi West), James Gakuya (Embakasi North), and Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji).

According to Starehe lawmaker, Maina Kamanda the meeting was to bring together all the aspirants ahead of the next general election.

“We are all in Jubilee and the person who will win the nomination will be the Jubilee Party candidate,” Kamanda said.

Following the endorsement of Wamalwa, there has been an uproar among a section of Jubilee members who called for the nomination process to determine the party's flagbearer who will attempt to unseat Governor Evans Kidero.

Senator Mike Sonko has been quoted saying that he will seek another political vehicle he feels the nomination process was flawed.
