Kiambu Town MP Jude Njomo has laughed off claims by opposition leaders that the government has made amendments to the electoral laws to rig the elections in August.
Speaking in Gatundu South Constituency during the burial of Charles Regeru, brother to area MP Moses Kuria, Njomo said Jubilee would win even without amending laws.
“We are positive that Jubilee shall win. We do not need extra favours, we have God’s favour, we shall win 2017 general elections,” said Njomo.
The lawmaker said the purpose of having manual system to back up the electronic system is to ensure smooth elections in 2017.
"Our call for changes in the electoral law is only meant to provide an alternative mechanism to ensure elections proceed well," he said.
Kiambu Women Representative Annah Nyokabi said a manual system is needed to avoid creating unnecessary tension in case the electronic one fails.
“Digital systems can’t exist without a manual system because they can fail and we all know that," said Nyokabi.
