Top parliamentary political parties have finally submitted names of candidates who applied to be MPs at the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).

With Kenya having only three parliamentary political parties, president Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee, Opposition leader Raila Odinga's ODM, and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper, the three have submitted a total of over 20 names, for consideration.Jubilee nominated a total of 15 nominees, led by former Interior Principal Secretary Mutea, and Rtd National Assembly Clerk, Justin Bundi.In a letter to the sitting National Assembly Clerk, Michael Sialai, National Assembly Majority leader and Garissa Town MP Aden Duale said the names were the final Jubilee party's decision.Other proposed nominees include: former Kamukunji MP Simon Mbugua, Joe Muriuki, Abubakar Ogle, Irene Masit, Nelson Dzuya, Chepkemoi Stacey, Adan Mohammed and Justin Nthiiri.Also proposed names include: Charles Mochama, Eunice Karanja, Canon Waqo, Florence Sergon, Pius Ewoton, and Justus Mate.

On the other hand, ODM has presented the party's National Elections Board (NEB) chairperson Judith Pareno (who also seats at EALA), Raila's long-term think- tank member Abubakar Zein, both of whom are seeking a second term, former Raila's assistant Silas Jakakimba, among few others.Wiper nominated Kalonzo's son, Kennedy Musyoka, immediate former Wiper Executive Director Dr Temi Mutia, and Ahmed Ibrahim.Speaking, Thursday, Duale said the three were the only qualified parties, since for one to qualify to nominate candidates to EALA, the party must have 5 per cent, of MPs in parliament.
