Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings  in Nairobi on Tuesday, the Jubilee senator termed the claims as ‘malicious’.

He said that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government respects independence of Judiciary and other constitutional institutions.

The Kiambu senator accused some opposition politicians of fueling false propaganda in efforts to gain political sympathy.

“It is malicious for some opposition politicians to go on claiming that Jubilee wants to oust CJ Maraga from office, something that is completely false and malicious” he said.

Wamatangi claimed that opposition politicians want to create a tag of war between the Jubilee government and the community from which CJ Maraga comes form.

There have been claims that the Jubilee government could be plotting to oust CJ Maraga after Githu Muigai’s resignation as the Attorney General (AG) two weeks ago.

A section of opposition leaders have  been accusing the Jubilee administration of intruding into the Judiciary affairs with an alleged plan to kick out Maraga.

Last year, the Judiciary came under attack from a section of Jubilee politicians when the Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in the August 8, 2017 general election.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was quoted allegedly referring to the Supreme Court judges as ‘Wakora’.

The president vowed to ‘revisit’ the supreme court ruling that nullified his re-election.

On Monday, a petitioner, Adrian Njenga petitioned Parliament seeking dismissal of CJ Maraga, Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu and four other judges from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) over what he termed as gross misconduct.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has, however, dismissed the petition terming it as ‘misplaced’.

Muturi on Tuesday said that Parliament will not look at the content of the petition that he said falls own its own ‘sword’.Jubilee not interested in ousting CJ Maraga,  senator says.
