The Orange Democratic Movement and Jubilee Party are poised for a major battle as Wednesday’s Nyacheki ward by-elections near.
Both parties have invested heavily in the mini polls that were precipitated by the death of ODM MCA Peter Ongeri in August.
On Sunday, Deputy President became the first high-profile Jubilee leader to traverse the ward rallying behind the party’s candidate Maxwell Magoma and maintained that the party will carry the day.
“Even though as top Jubilee leadership we haven’t visited here, I believe that our team that has been on the ground has done a good job and that is why I am seeing many people coming to our rally,” Ruto said.
“I am sure we will carry the day despite the people of ‘vitendawili’ camping here day and night. This is our zone and no one can stop over victory,” he added.
On the other hand, the Orange brigade led by Senator Anyang’ Nyongo expressed their optimism that the party will carry the day even as its party leader Raila Odinga is expected in the region on Monday afternoon moments after arriving from London.
“This is our zone and I know the people of Nyacheki will not let us down. We are optimistic that Mr. Naphtali Onkoba will be your MCA after Wednesday,” Nyong’o said.
